Tapered Directional All Mountain Snowboards
Snowboard Trends--Tapered Directional All Mountain Snowboards
Alright Milo heads,, let’s talk about the snowboard shape trend that’s running the game right now in snowboarding, with all brands and with all shredders — the Tapered Directional All Mountain Snowboards Deck Design.

Tapered Shaped Snowboard
This isn’t just one specific board design, it’s a whole load of shapes, and here at MILO, we are super hyped on are the versatility of so many of these tapered all-mountain rigs. Taper means that the nose width of the board is wider than the tail width, and is measured in millimeters, and these super small dimensional design changes make a huge difference in how a board rides.
So lets back up a bit. When you get into heavier taper design, usually 10mm or more, you’re looking at boards built to trench carves and surf pow like a dream. That extra taper sinks the tail, lifts the nose, and keeps you floating on storm days. These boards are unreal in deep snow and high speeds. But sometimes that much taper can lock you into a more specialty feel.
So what is happening now, brands are building tapered directional all mountain boards with a smaller amount of taper, allowing you to ride the board with more confidence, more speed, and more power, but not boxing you in to that freeride shredding. These all mountain boards absolutely crush it in the park, pipe,, side country and even those big back country kickers.

Now yeah, waist width matters, snowboard sidecut design matters, camber profile matters, flex design matters too. All of that good stuff that gives boards personality. But right now, the big trend is all about that sweet spot of unique and deliberate tapered shapted snowboard design.
The magic zone in today’s lineup is 5mm–10mm of taper. That’s where boards get crazy versatile. You can cruise a mellow groomer day laying down clean arcs, then open it up and straight-line when you’re feeling sendy. It’s stable, predictable, and still playful when you want it to be.
