Welcome to the Resistance | The Future of Snowboard Bindings is Straps

A long time ago, in a snowboarding galaxy not so far away, the Empire decided that ankle and toe straps were yesterdays technology. Their future had arrived, and the death of the traditional two strap binding seemed imminent.

Not so fast.

The Empire Strikes

In the 1990's, it looked like the traditional two strap binding might actually go extinct. Industry brands kept searching for the next big thing, releasing systems like Device, Clicker, Switch, and Marker. Galactic engineers wanted to eliminate the whole ritual of sitting down, cranking your ankle strap, tightening your toe strap, and finally standing up to ride. Basically, they wanted us to look like SKIERS.

Something funny happened instead. The conventional two strap SNOWBOARD BINDING survived, and flourished.

It survived because snowboarders realized that connection matters. How a binding feels on your feet matters. A solid two strap binding gives you adjustability, board feel, and a level of trust riders have relied on for decades. The crew at Milosport lived through that era, and we saw firsthand that the Empire could not destroy the strap.

As the heads at The Bomb Hole say, one more click matters.

The Return of the Resistance

Fast forward thirty years and we are seeing another wave of quick entry systems. Honestly, for some riders, convenience makes sense, and we are all for it. Nobody starts snowboarding just to sit on a freezing bench at the top of the run, and fight with icy ratchets. As snowboarders we want fast. We want easy. We want to get off the lift and drop right in. So the question becomes, Step In Bindings or Conventional Two Strap Bindings?

At Milo, we just look at it from a slightly different angle. Why does making bindings easier to get into mean we have to get rid of straps?

Maybe the straps were never the problem. Maybe it just needed a little refresh, a little love. Year after year, modern designed ratchets and straps have improved, make getting into your bindings pretty damn easy.

Then came the FASE and SUPERMATIC snowboard bindings, systems which the staff at Milosport is fully backing it. The concept is simple. Take the classic two strap setup riders trust, keep the ankle and toe straps, preserve that direct board connection, and rethink how you enter the binding. You get fast entry without abandoning the design that has worked for generations, and still maintain comfort and feel.

That is the kind of innovation we love at Milo. Do not throw everything away just because something shiny comes along. Take what works and make it better.

Even the Empire Has Good Ideas

We are not going to pretend convenience bindings do not work. They do, and there is a real reason people buy them. It makes your life easier, and is not a horrible thing.  If you are on the dark side convenience train, we are not trying to drag you off it. Well, maybe just a little.

Convenience is not owned by a single design, and fast entry does not require sacrificing your straps. In fact, keeping straps is where snowboarding tech is getting really exciting. The way ratchets and ladder straps are made now make it super easy to lock in.

The Force Is Strong With the Strap

The future of snowboarding does not require throwing out history. Sometimes the best progress comes from taking a proven system and making it smoother.

The two strap binding works, and continues to improve. It has worked for decades because it is adjustable, familiar, and dialed for control. Now options like FASE and SUPERMATIC are also available on the shop floor at Milosport, proving that classic performance can be fast too.

Maybe the lesson from the nineties was not that step in bindings failed. Maybe the lesson was that snowboarders refuse to sacrifice feel and control just to save five seconds at the top of the lap.

The Resistance Is Back

So yeah, the crew at Milo is taking a stance.

We are betting on the strap.

Not because it is classic, but because it has a huge future. The Empire spent decades trying to eliminate straps, yet straps survived, adapted, and stayed on the feet of the best riders on earth. Now they are faster than ever. Now they look better than ever. With that, we just want to add "May the Force be with you every day you shred".

Stop by Milosport, check out the new gear for yourself, and see why the Resistance is straps.

WELCOME TO THE RESISTANCE.
