Slushy Laps, Dodgeball Champs, and High Elevation Fun: Nitro Snowboards hits Woodward at Copper
I split from Milosport for the week and threw the snowboard boots back on for an electric week with the Nitro snowboards crew. Here's how it went down:

While temps in SLC are rising, the itch to snowboard continues. The boarders migrate to Copper Colorado for Nitro Snowboards week at Woodward Copper. A summer camp built in the Rockies for the kids and adults willing to go the extra length to get on board in the summer.
Nitro Team riders Alex Schoff (Norm) @_noorm_, Iris Pham @irispham, Brantley Mullins @brantleymullins, Nick Miller @_mickniller, Hunter Goulet @huntergoulet, and myself Grey Katko @gkatko spent the week boarding with campers, smoking kids in dodgeball, and stacking clips.
Woodward Copper summer camp does it right and there is never a dull moment. Weather was on the fritz with rain and thunderstorms in the forecast, we didn’t know what to expect. When it came time to board, the sun was shining day after day.
Beating the Forecast and Stacking Clips
Everyone was ready to board, and tricks were going down. One of my favorites was Norm’s gap hardway front 180 to switch tail press on the flat-down rail. (You gotta go check this clip on his instagram)
Iris Pham was also out and about riding her new Pro Model, the Zaza. The bright purple on that board just hits. Not to mention the fact that she was lacing gap to front board and switch back tail sameway. A fun sight to see.
We also had a side hit session on the right side of the third jump landing. There was a jump built out of the side of the wall and the crew was boosting off of it. Hunter went backside rodeo 720 nosegrab over the entire thing into the landing. So g. Nick did a cab underflip tail grab, and I did a Frontside 720 melon. The best part was we all landed the tricks on the same run back to back. You gotta love it.
Passing the Torch On
While the clips were stacked, we also had a great time kicking it with the campers. We hosted an on-snow rail jam for day two. Shoutout to the Nitro guys for lacing us with products for the campers. We had a whole lotta goodies to give out throughout the week and I knew the campers would be hyped. Next year I gotta bring some Milosport merch. I bet they would be hyped on some of our gear, like the Halo T-shirt and the Factory Denim Pant. Nice and baggy for the new gen!
Nick Miller and crew were tossing product left and right. I saw one camper do his first front board and I was going crazy. Vibes were high, the sun was out, and campers were throwing tricks left and right. Gotta love a classic rail jam session to get the kids juiced.

The Dodgeball Champion
It wouldn’t be a Woodward camp week without some dodgeball.
Our guy Hunter Goulet was probably the dodgeball champion. Hunter was down 1 vs 5 and somehow clutched the win for the campers. He took them down one by one and once he took the last player down the whole team started screaming and running for Hunter.
I got smoked in the head once, performance was subpar, so I’ll be back for my revenge. Some of those kids had some heaters. They must have been baseball players or something…
The Kids Are Alright
I think it's safe to say the future of snowboarding is in good hands. We had a great time kicking with the campers, and getting to know them. Sometimes I worry about these kids who are just glued to the phone watching TikTok 24/7. But this week was proof the youth are thriving.
I can speak for the whole crew when I say we can't wait to be back next summer for another Nitro snowboards week. If you kid loves to snowboard, send them to Woodward. You won’t be bummed and neither will they.
Thanks for the memories Woodward at Copper, see you next year!
