Milosport and Brighton | A Utah Snowboarding Relationship Built Over Decades
Snowboarding in Utah is pretty special.
Sure, we have the snow. A lot of snow.
But what makes Utah snowboarding different has always been the people, the mountains and the community that grew up around them.
For us at Milosport, Brighton has always been a huge part of that.
We have been riding Brighton for decades. We have watched people take their first turns there, learn to ride a chairlift, spend entire days in the park, figure out their first grab, and eventually become really good snowboarders.
A lot of friendships started there too.
Brighton has been part of Utah snowboarding for a long time, and it has been a big part of the Milosport story as well.

A Shared Foundation in Snowboarding
What has always made Brighton special to us is the people.
You show up early, ride a few laps with your friends, talk to whoever happens to be on the chair, and somehow the day disappears. Some days are about getting better. Some are about trying something new. Some are just about riding around with your friends.
That has always been snowboarding to us.
It is also what we have tried to create at Milosport.
Gear is obviously a big part of what we do, but it has never been the whole thing. We have always wanted to help people find the right setup, get excited about riding and stay connected to the people and places that make snowboarding fun.
Brighton has been a big part of that for us.
The Milo Team Legacy
When you look back at Utah snowboarding, it is hard to separate the history of the sport here from the riders who were part of it.
The Milosport team has had a lot of riders over the years. Different generations, different personalities and very different approaches to riding.
That was never a problem.
We never wanted everybody to ride the same way. The whole point was having riders with their own style and personality who were doing their thing.
A lot of those riders spent plenty of time at Brighton.
Scotty Goodale, Tim Ostler, Seth Huot, Tonino Copene, Josh Roberts, Jordan Mendenhall, Mikey LeBlanc, Travis Parker, Laura Hadar, Noah Brandon, Mitch Nelson, MFM, Jason Murphy, Nate Bozung, Jon Kooley, Brandon Ruff, Dave Downing, Jason Brown, Dan Brisse, Aaron Bittner, Brandon Hobush and Christian Hobush are just some of the names that come to mind.
There are a lot more.
They came from different eras and had different riding styles, but they all have that Brighton connection.
That is one of the things that makes looking back at the history so much fun.

The Milo Riders Then and Now
The team has changed a lot over the years, but the basic idea really hasn't.
Snowboarding is always changing. New riders come along, new tricks become normal, styles change and different parts of the mountain become interesting.
What does not change is the reason people keep showing up.
You ride with your friends. You push each other. You learn something. You have a great day. Then you come back and do it again.
That has been true for every generation of Milo riders.
The names change, but the connection to the mountain and the people around it stays pretty much the same.
The Next Generation of Milo Riders
That brings us to the riders around Milosport today.
Jeremy Jones, JP Walker, Sage Kotsenburg, Bode Merrill, Sam Taxwood, Spencer Schubert, Chris Beresford, Blake Paul, Jordan Morse, Pat Fava, Ben Bilodeau, Xander Cornaby, Joey Fava, Cooper Wittier, Noah Peterson and Gabe Harris are part of that continuing story.
They represent different parts of snowboarding and have their own styles, but that is exactly what we like about having a team.
We do not need everyone to look or ride the same.
We want riders who are doing something interesting, having fun and contributing something of their own.
And just like the riders before them, a lot of their story is being written at Brighton.

The Past Is Brighton
The 90s and 2000s were a pretty incredible time for Utah snowboarding.
Brighton was right in the middle of it.
There were long days riding, filming, hanging out in the parking lot and figuring things out as you went. You would see the same people over and over, and before long you knew half the mountain.
Mack Dawg Productions, Whitey and the crew, Standard Films, Absinthe and all the other crews coming through were documenting what was happening.
A lot of that footage was being made on the same snow we were riding every day.
For us, that time was a big part of the Milosport team and the identity that came with it.
It was not something we sat down and planned. It just happened because that was where everyone wanted to be.
The Present Is Brighton
That connection is still there.
You can go to Brighton now and see kids learning their first turns alongside people who have been riding there for decades. You see friends meeting up for a few laps, families riding together and a new group of snowboarders finding their place.
That is one of the best things about snowboarding.
It keeps adding people.
The community does not start over every few years. The next group comes in, learns from the people who were there before them, changes things a little and eventually becomes part of the history themselves.
We have seen that happen over and over again.
The Future Is Brighton
There are a lot of great mountains to snowboard, but Brighton will always be different for us.
It is one of those places where you can show up without much of a plan and still have a great day.
It is where a lot of people learned to snowboard. It is where a lot of people found their style. It is where friendships were made and where a lot of the Utah snowboard community grew up.
For Milosport, that relationship goes back decades.
We are proud of the riders who have been part of the team, grateful for the people we have met along the way, and pretty excited about the riders who are coming up now.
A lot has changed since those first days.
Brighton is still Brighton. And we are still riding.
See you on the mountain.
