ARBOR DRAFT SNOWBOARD
THE DRAFT.....THE ANTICIPATION OF THE ARBOR ROCKER.
Arbor’s take on the rocker revolution - the new Draft is designed around The System, a fusion of interdependent technologies that support jib-specific performance. Make no mistake; rocker boards represent a new approach to how snowboards function. They require a total rethinking of long held ideas on technologies and how they interact. To that end, we present The System.
THE SYSTEM: A fusion of interdependent technologies that support jib-specific performance.
Grip-Tech Sidecut: By un-blending its tri-radial sidecut, Arbor has created two additional contact points underfoot. This was done to counter the loss of edge hold that results when rockering a board, which lifts the outside contacts off the snow. The new inside contacts create pivot zones that provide quicker turning and easier spin initiation, while creating the feel of a mini snowboard underfoot that rides like a skate. The placement of the new contacts allows riders to drive their edge into the snow when more control is needed. Grip-Tech also makes it possible to ride a standard width board with up to size 12.5 boots.
Street Rocker: Arbor lengthened the apex of its rocker design using a parabolic shape. This improves edge contact between the feet and creates a smoother transition across the length of the rocker. As with “Grip-Tech,” Street Rocker provides the critical edge hold that makes real rocker performance possible.
Rocker Specific Flex: Rocker alters board dynamics by lifting the leading edge off the snow. As a result, flex is activated in a completely new way. In response, Arbor developed a Rocker Specific Flex matrix designed to address how riders experience board flex when riding a rocker design.
Inlaid Power Spine: By adding a spine of sustainably sourced wood above the core, Arbor is able to enhance the Draft’s pop and return, which is normally reduced when de-cambering a board. The unique tapered shape of the spine allows the torsional flex to soften towards the tips for easier spins and butters.
Robusto Tips: A wide, blunt shape and flat kick designed to meet the potential of riding rocker. The System brings the effective contact points inward, altering the function of the nose and tail. As a result, Robusto Tips were created to handle a more specialized role as platforms for presses and butters. They still allow board float over deep or choppy snow, but now make it easier to roll onto and utilize the tips.
True-Twin: The System Set of technologies uses a true-twin shape to encourage riders to equalize their stance and activate the Grip-Tech contact points and Street Rocker design effectively. The twin shape also provides the switch freedom required for all-aspect, street-specific riding.
Mercy Edges: Using a softer bronze edge allows Arbor to create smoother, less catchy rail performance. This change also refines the feel of the board between the feet, balancing the aggressive edge performance created by The System’s parabolic Street Rocker and Grip Tech contact points.
Sumo-Stance: Expanding the 2x4 insert system to 14-packs allows Arbor to offer a huge 25.20" (64cm) stance without requiring riders to spin their disks or sacrifice micro-adjustability. The design also allows riders to size down their boards for jib specific performance, yet maintain a wide, skate-style stance.
